The East Sussex Healthy Schools programme
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
Schools and colleges play an important role in promoting good social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing. There are excellent examples across East Sussex of schools supporting and promoting good mental health, in particular where it is done as part of a whole school approach.
A Whole School Approach encompasses and mobilises the whole school to promote student and staff wellbeing and address mental health issues. This type of multi-component approach has been shown to be more effective in promoting social and emotional wellbeing than those which focus on only one or two parts of school life.
There is a wealth of information and support available in East Sussex from the Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing team around the Whole School Approach - Mental health and emotional wellbeing (MHEW) | Czone.
The Anna Freud Mentally Healthy Schools website has a Mental Health Lead Resource Hub section where you can find also resources and support for a whole school or college approach Mental health lead resource hub - Mentally Healthy Schools.
